Bird Control Netting Kits for Dormer Roofs

Tuesday 10/04/2018

Ah, the seagull! No-one can accuse the bird of fussiness when it comes to where it’ll nest or rest. Any roof will do. Your Dormer one is as at risk as any other type.

Seagulls tend to roost at the highest point of any building whether that’s an office or a house. If you can stop them landing there in the first place, then they will often leave the property for good.

As you probably know, now is peak seagull time. It’s the nesting season, which lasts from April to July. The birds lay their eggs in April and May and the young gulls hatch about four weeks later, finally leaving the nest after an additional five to six weeks.

Nesting is a noisy time for the birds. If you’ve ever stumbled on a fledgling seagull out of its nest, you’ll know the drill. Run! The bird gets very protective of its young and they often dive bomb humans as they see them as a threat. Your pet dog or cat is at risk too.
Seagulls are a growing nuisance. They’ve long been the bane of coastal areas, but more recently they have moved inland. Not only is the noise and aggression a factor, but droppings cause health and environmental issues. Seagulls on your roof can cause structural damage.

Like their pesky smaller relation, the pigeon, the seagull is protected by the UK’s Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which extends to the birds, their nests and eggs. It’s illegal to interfere with their nests or take their eggs, so the best solution is to stop them spotting your roof and thinking, “Des res for me and the family for the next three months or so!”

PestFix to the rescue! We stock Seagull Netting Dormer Roof Kits, which come complete with everything you need to install a 5m x 5m or 5m x 10m 75mm mesh seagull net on a flat dormer roof. They’re also suitable for small flat roofs.

The kit includes:

- a mesh, knotted polyethylene net in either black or translucent
- stainless steel roof mounts to lift the netting off the roof
- galvanised fixings
- galvanised perimeter
- straining products and specialist tools.

The roof mounts won’t pierce the roof, minimising the risk of damage. We also have a handy installation guide that shows you all the steps you take to cover your roof and make it bird-free. What’s more, our limited time special offer means you can save 15 percent on individual products.
